I have been taking pictures since 2006. I have been a Nascar fan since 2000 but it wasn’t until about 2007 that I started to think of it as more than just a hobby. Experiencing the race cars speeding by at 170mph is such an adrenaline rush. Sports, especially the motorsports area, is my passion.

Nascar photography, like any art form, is about emotion. The reason I love to visit the track is because it elicits a passion within me, a feeling that I can’t get doing anything else. The challenge of motorsports photography is to create that same emotion within a very small two-dimensional space that I felt when I stood in this vast three dimensional world taking the picture.

I have received some formal training in photography, but learning mainly from trial and error and from reading and studying the work of other photographers.  For me, photography grew out of my love for the outdoors; what started as just a way to document annual adventures to downtown Chicago evolved over time into becoming sports photographer. I have always put more effort into getting out and taking  pictures than I have on the business side of photography. It’s only in the last few years that I have actively attempted to display my photography publicly.
